St. Marys is the second oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States, after St. Augustine, Fla. Our city was first settled in the mid-1500s by the Spanish. The town was established on Dec. 5, 1792, by an act of the state legislature and was incorporated in November 1802.
St. Marys gets roughly 51 inches of rain per year and no snowfall. The number of days with any measurable precipitation is approximately 111. On average, there are 221 sunny days per year in our community. The July high is around 90 degrees and January low is 44.
Camden County is home to one comprehensive high school with a separate Ninth Grade Center, two middle schools and nine elementary schools. There is the new accredited Coastal Community College that provides two and four year degrees locally. The University of North Florida is within 30 miles of St. Marys.
Jacksonville International Airport is located a mere 20 minutes away and provide direct service to many major cities - Boston, Washington, Philly, New York, Dallas and Chicago. Major discount players - Southwest and Airtan - keep the big player's fares low.
